About Me

Hi my name is Mona! I am a currently a Machine Learning Engineer at Apple on the Machine Intelligence Sensing Team, where we work on using device sensors to create new product experiences. My current work is on improving Assistive Touch for Apple Watch, a feature developed to make the watch more accessible to everyone.
Before my current team, I was a Rotation Engineer and worked on several teams, including the MI Sensing team, Learning Sciences, Siri Acoustic Modeling, and Siri Production and Integration. You can read more about some of my work at Apple here.
Before Apple, I did my undergraduate studies at MIT in Course 6-9 (Computation and Cognition), a joint degree program between the departments of EECS and Brain and Cognitive Science. During my undergraduate years I did research at the MIT Media Lab my junior and senior years, and I was at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research my freshman year. I was involved in the Undergraduate Association (UA), where I worked on the Committee on Education and Committee on Innovation. During my time on the Committee on Education, I served as the Faculty Violations Officer and I ran the Student-Faculty Dinners program.
While I was on the Committee on Innovation, I was the treasurer and I was one of the founders and organizers of the BetterMIT Innovation Week and Makeathon, where we brought in innovators as speakers and created workshops to help get students interested in all types of innovation. The week then concluded with a makeathon involving innovating on MIT student life. With our remaining funds we started an initiative to create better spaces around campus, which began with the Compton Student Lounge in 26-110 (now affectionately known as the "Banana Lounge").
During my free time I enjoy trying new food, learning new things, baking, perfumery, and occasionally indulging in pop culture.
